In 1995, Plant Cell Technology (PCT) began to market a fun and interactive toy called Pet Plant. Pet Plant was a live plant growing in tissue culture media that parents and children could nurture and watch grow. The toy was a hit, but it had one problem: contamination. Many of the pet plants would become contaminated with fungus, bacteria, and mold.Â
After nearly a year of researching and testing solutions in our lab, in collaboration with Dr. Assaf Guri, we developed an antimicrobial solution that could effectively reduce and prevent contamination in our tissue culture plants, and Plant Preservative Mixture (PPMâ¢) was born.Â
Since that time, we have continued to perfect PPMâ¢, supplying thousands of labs and cultivators around the world with an effective solution to one of the greatest challenges in a tissue culture operation: airborne, waterborne, human contact, and endogenous contamination.
The tissue culture process has become an essential technology in todayâs global economy, with practical applications across a variety of industries - the cultivation of common produce, the preservation of endangered plant species, the propagation of essential crops in developing nations - the list goes on.Â
In response to the growing need for dependable tissue culture proproducts, we have continued to expand our offerings to provide our customers with solutions to their tissue culture needs. In addition to PPMâ¢, we now offer Supreme Grade Agar and Phytagel gelling agents, as well as a variety of laboratory equipment.Â
We are working with suppliers around the world to provide our customers with the highest quality products at the most affordable prices.Â
